Dark Queens and Their Quarry is Available on Amazon!

Now Available on both Amazon and EtsyDark Queens and Their Quarry is the first collection of poems from Lisa King. As a lyricist and songwriter for Atlanta band The Hot Place, she is no stranger to creative wordplay. Influenced by the work of Robert Bly, Aleister Crowley, Carl Jung, and Joseph Campbell, Dark Queens is a seasonal journey, which addresses the Mother Wound through mythological storytelling and archetypal imagery. Lisa's rhythmic style and hallucinogenic visions are reminiscent of her Beat, Rock & Roll, Decadent, and Surrealist influences. The two-folio compilation of “Boneshadows of Motherskin 2017-2019” and “Hot Rod Butterfly 2000-2014” are presented in 105 full-color print pages with 59 poems, $20.95 with free 2-day shipping on Amazon Prime, and is available for Kindle. In the tradition of William Blake, the collection is accompanied by a series of six illustrations, inked and penciled by Ms. King. This special edition, independently published by No Big Wheel Press & Publishing House, is edited by musician and writer Jeff Calder. Visit www.nobighwheel.com for ongoing updates.

In praise of “Dark Queens and Their Quarry” by Lisa King:

Lisa King is often the recipient of special offerings brought to her by the crows that populate her Southern woodland home, and as readers of her deeply soulful, sensitive poems, we too become blessed beneficiaries as we receive these mysterious, magical gifts.” - David J, Bauhaus/Love and Rockets

...a fascinating journey of ritual and mythic storytelling, cloaked in a language of magic, and rich with imagery, Lisa King writes with a voice of clarity and power. This collection of sixty poems, each a gem, is also accompanied by six illustrations by Ms. King...a tantalizing feast for the imagination!” -Bill Rea, composer and bassist, The Glenn Phillips Band

A beautifully illustrated book of poems that give you a glimpse into the mind of a phenomenal artist. These poems walk you through a gorgeous feminine dreamscape.” -Steve Miller, reader

Enticing wordplay that ebbs and flows, and hypnotizes...just like [her] music.” -Terry Maltos, reader

Lisa is a multi-talented artist, writer, and free-thinker. I find her inspiring no matter what she creates. She never disappoints.” -Jen Wentz Meador, LPC, reader

Superb poetic vision...in this text, darkness and lightness are represented in a sweetly Southern Gothic style. Lisa King weaves her love of mythical worlds and words with her Jungian Science Mind, into an incredibly vibrant tapestry of tuneful tales.” -Albert Gresens, musician
