Southern Tracks "Petals Of Ruin" Guitar Session, 9-10-10 (6)
We recorded a lot of guitar overdubs today, and Jeff played "the" guitar solo on the song "Petals of Ruin." We tracked both Jeff's Cosmic Antenna handpainted Les Paul through my VOX AC 30 and we ran my Tele through the HH Amp head through a lime green Port City 4x12 cab, (made in Wilmington, NC.) Sounded great! Also recorded some electric 12 string with the awesome Leslie cab over at Southern Tracks. Lots of work done today. Little editing, and the song will be ready to mix. HH IC-100 Amplifier Arrival Day and Studio Sessions with Her (12)
The long anticipated arrival of my super rare, 1970's HH IC-100 amp has come. This baby is LOUD! Sounds amazing, condition is amazing (we're going to refurbish it with some help from our Brit friends at MAJ to get back to as an original as possible look...this includes some cabinet work, speaker work, grill cloth work, and the addition of the vintage HH Amp Logo on the front.) I'm including a pic in this gallery of the original Ad for the Amp, and you can see how it will look when we're finished restoring it. But, she's in great condition, been checked out on the "variac" by Kevin at Ack, and I fired her up tonight. Perhaps the most stunning feature of the amp, is that around all the knobs, the setting markers and words glow this eerie aqua-purplish blue. It's really an amazing amp. And sounds JUST like what I was wanting. YAY!!! -

Southern Tracks Recording: Run Away Today Guitar Solo Session (14)
I recorded some nice flanged guitar solos over my song, "Run Away Today" : Ran Jeff's Cosmic Antenna Les Paul that I handpainted a few years back, through a Boss stereo flanger and through a pair of Fender Deluxe Reverb amps; also played both my Tele's through my Vox AC-30 and Boss chorus pedal for some little parts. Returned some other things through the Roland SBF-325, the "flanger" of Bernard Sumner...little Joy Division for ya...it was a long day. Also had the Neumann QM69 quadraphonic mic catching the room sound...whew...Time flies when yer a' flangin'.... -

Southern Tracks Recording Session 4-20/4-21-2010 (18)
An amazing 2 days at Southern Tracks Recording. Robert Schmid finished all the drum tracks for the album, and Jeff Calder and I overdubbed all the fun stuff: Pedal Steel, Saarang (Electric Tamboura), Gamelan, Tambourine, Shakers, Djembe, Woodblocks, some Backing Vocals, Slide Guitar, all the little icing for the cake. Fun fun fun! Hard to remember to take out the camera when working so hard though. A strange assortment of snaps. -
